Roger Von Oech

A Few Good Men.

They’re still out there.

It seems like it is hard to find them these days with the likes of Bernie Madoff, AIG Morons, and the bunch.

But I sure talked to a Good Man last night.

Roger Von Oech has been the leading pioneer in Creativity and Innovation for 3 and half decades.

He still is.

I remember reading A Whack on the Side of the Head over 15 years ago on a sailing trip in the British Virgin Islands. The book’s impact on me was no less than career changing. I still dive back into that book ……..often.

Roger is also the author of  A Kick in the Seat of the Pants, Expect the Unexpected, Creative Whack Pack and the Innovative Whack Pack.

His latest invention is the Creative Whack Pack…… available for the iPhone.

I sent Roger a copy of my book Da Vinci and the 40 Answers, fully expecting him to hurdle it directly into the trash. That was assuming that he would ever see it in the first place. I was sure his gatekeeper would have 86’d it with the other junk mail.

He called me last night.

He said he had read my book while on a trip last week in Argentina.

“Wonderful Book!
Fun, practical, and enjoyable, Mark Fox’s book deserves a wide audience.”
Roger von Oech

I am still shocked he took the time to read my book and to call me.

He really gave me a boost of encouragement. He told me about some of the struggles when he got started, challenges with his 1st book, shared some ideas I had not thought of, and talked to me about my goals and strategies.

I know how busy he is. He didn’t have to help me like that, or even call me.

Or as I said even take the time to read my book.

I told my wife, “He is one of the nicest guys I have talked to in a long time.”

And he was.

A Few Good Men. They’re still out there.

Don’t let the bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five, tell you otherwise.
